January 1994 At the end of 1993 under new controller, Matthew Bannister, Radio 1 made its most radical changes ever. Older presenters were sacked or resigned and a host of new specialist programmes were introduced to target a younger audience. The changes took place in two steps, with evening and weekend programmes changing in November 1993 and the remaining programmes changing at the start of 1994. Only the Top40, Evening Session, Pete Tong and Bruno Brookes retained their old slots. |
