In late 1983 the weekday 19-20 talk slot was replaced by an extra hour of David Jensen, who left in mid 1984 to be temporarily replaced by Richard Skinner (again). The Robbie Vincent soul and funk show started on Sunday nights after Sounds of Jazz returned to Radio 2. Simon Bates presented the Top 40 during 1984

At the beginning of 1987, the Stereo Sequence with Johnny Walker took over Saturdays from 14:00-19:30, with Saturday Live becoming Sunday Live on Sundays from 14:30-15:30. A repeat of the Documentary at 21:00 on Thursdays was also introduced
